The student beside me is Maria Isabel Hijalga. She is currently a grade one student. Talking to her was not that difficult because she was not afraid nor shy. She was not the type who talks a lot but she did not hesitate in answering my questions. I asked her if she wanted to read some books. She said she wanted to so we went to the library and she was so excited. She said that they have no story books at home so she only reads the stories in her reading textbook. It was also very evident through her actions that she really likes to read books.
In the library, I gave her a variety of books to choose from. She immediately saw a book and started reading it even though it was quite a thick one. I asked her if she likes to read a story about robots which I was holding but she said she does want to. She actually likes to read about animals or stories which the characters are animals.
Maria can read independently and fluently. She also asks immediately when she encounters a word which she does not know what the meaning is. Below are some of the personal information that I was able to get from her.
